The mission of the Homestead High School PTSA is to support the educational journey of HHS students. Our HHS PTSA Board is excited to help achieve this mission and to collaborate together to be a resource for our parents, teachers and students.
The PTSA supports HHS with numerous grants for special equipment, student programs, parent education speakers, student enrichment and support for graduation party/events. The PTSA coordinates SAT Prep classes, provides the Reflections art competition, awards student scholarships, and supports advocacy for continued school funding. Your PTSA membership dues and donations fund all these educational programs for our student and parent community (note that the Grad Night Party's fundraising is separate from the Direct Appeal, which funds the rest of what we do.) The HHS PTSA is part of the Cupertino Fremont Sunnyvale PTA Council and the California Sixth District PTA.
We can only be successful with your support and participation. We welcome and request your involvement. What's in it for you? Awareness of what's happening at the school and knowing that you can make a difference for the students at Homestead.

In this time of uncertainty and new challenges, our school is working on new ways to support students. Though classes are held remotely, more resources and opportunities are instrumental to make this year a success. Your donations help support the school where state funding is not adequate. These are some of the results of the PTSA Direct Appeal:
● Donated $10K towards the Mac Lab upgrade, with more to come
● Purchased equipment and lab supplies for AP classes
● Purchased textbooks and AP text prep books
● Hosted a staff appreciation day for our faculty and staff
● Co-sponsorship of the multicultural festival with ASB that raised over $3k to fund student clubs
● Co-sponsorship of “Beyond the Blue” disability awareness and fundraising week
● Collaboration with ASB on the food pantry and clothing store
● Awarded need based scholarships to facilitate student participation in extracurricular events and competitions and college application tests
● Approved the purchase of organizational planners for all students for the coming year
● Purchased a new color printer for the Journalism department to support the school’s color printing needs
● Presented speakers on topics including student safety, physical and mental health, and more

Class of 2023 Grad Night Party: June 8, 2023
What is the Grad Night Party (GNP)?
The GNP is an all-night celebration for seniors following the graduation ceremony.
Grad Night Party is held at a secret off-campus location, where the students can participate in fun activities all night with their friends and not have to worry about driving or organizing their plans. The location is kept secret until right before the party to keep the party secure. The party is held in a different spot each year, but it's always a safe, secure, chaperoned environment for our seniors to enjoy one last big night with their graduating class. A great send-off for our wonderful students!
Ticket Price - $200 until sold out or May 1, whichever comes first
Funding for GNP is 100% through ticket sales and fundraising.
Scholarships: a limited number of scholarships will be available. Information will be available soon. Extra donations to support student scholarships are gladly accepted.
Buy Your Ticket Now! Ticket and waiver forms will be available on the PTSA section of the school website at the start of the 2022-23 school year. An announcement will be circulated via school email when ticket sales go live. Payments are accepted online or by check or cash.

Homestead’s Grad Night Party is patterned after a nation-wide movement established by MADD (Mother’s Against Drunk Driving). Known as “Project Graduation,” parents come together to host an all-night celebration free from alcohol/drugs. The elimination of separate graduation parties keeps our community safe at a time when our grads are most at risk of becoming drunk/impaired driving victims.
The Graduation Party, a Homestead tradition that is hosted by the parents of seniors, provides a safe celebration after the graduation ceremony. This all-night-party at a secret, off-site location followed by a campfire breakfast in the quad, gives our students a wonderful memory of their senior year at Homestead High School.

The PTSA helps sponsor and provides volunteer support for this award winning program which shows students the very real and deadly consequences of driving while impaired.
The Alcohol Awareness Program offers real-life experience without the real-life risks. This emotionally charged program is designed to dramatically show teenagers the dangers of drinking and driving. This powerful program will challenge students to think about drinking, personal safety and the responsibility of making mature decisions when lives are involved.
The PTSA Honorary Service Award Program recognizes the service and dedication of volunteers who have gone above and beyond for our school. The HSA Program includes the Very Special Person, Honorary Service, Continuing Service, and the Golden Oak Service Awards. A donation to the HSA Program Funds is contributed on behalf of each winner. These funds support the California State PTA scholarship and grant programs. Since the program was founded in 1965, the California State PTA has awarded more than $4,000,000 in student loans, scholarships and grants.
Honorary Service Awards (HSA) are available to recognize the service and dedication of both individuals and organizations. Each year the Homestead High School PTSA recognizes outstanding service to our children and youth in our community.

The Homestead HHS PTSA is inviting students to explore the arts and express themselves by submitting an artwork to The 2022-23 National PTSA Reflections competition. This year’s prompt is “SHOW YOUR VOICE!” Please see the flyer here.
Staff appreciation brunch is sponsored by the PTSA at the end of the first semester. This is a great way to say “Thank You” to the staff who work with and support our students. Volunteers are asked to donate entrees, sides, desserts and beverages or their time to help serve brunch to our dedicated and wonderful staff.

Job Shadow Day is an event the HHS puts on to give our students a real-life look at a day in the life of a working adult. We connect HHS students with local professionals in a variety of fields so they can spend time with them, learn what they do, ask questions and get insights into career possibilities.
Students in grades 10, 11 and 12 are eligible to participate. If interested, please fill out the student survey. The students are matched with the host based on availability and interest on a first-come-first-serve basis.
We try our best to get hosts from a variety of fields. This is possible only with the help of the parent community at Homestead. Parents interested in hosting or helping with finding hosts, please fill out the host survey. Your student/s will get priority.

2022 Reflections Winners Announced:
The HHS Reflections art competition Award of Excellence winners whose works went on to compete at the Council level were Mathilde Bride (visual art); Ye'ela Bronicki (photography); Chloe Wong (poetry); Kanon Tabuchi (choreography) and Marcus Wurts (music composition). Marcus and Mathilde's work won Awards of Excellence at Council level and proceeded on to the Sixth District competition, where both were awarded an Award of Merit. Thank you to all the artists who participated, and congratulations to all the winners.

Dr. Ronesh Sinha, author of The South Asian Health Solution, is an internal medicine physician for Palo Alto Medical Foundation who runs a lifestyle clinic focused on reversing insulin resistance. He is also an expert in corporate wellness and serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Silicon Valley Employer Forum where he is a global adviser to over 55 major Silicon Valley companies on health and wellness strategies. He blogs actively on health at culturalhealthsolutions.com and recently launched the Meta Health podcast where he uses creative storytelling to teach listeners about health and metabolism. His free Covid-19 survival guide has been used by families worldwide to guide lifestyle strategies to reduce the risks from COVID.

Screenagers 2 - Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience Movie Screening & Discussion,

The screening of this new and important movie is a collaborative effort between the PTSAs of HHS, MVHS, LHS and the FUHS Foundation - we are proud to work together to bring information and resources to our community.
This film examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and what we can do to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age. Watch the movie trailer.

Superintendent Bove will provide general information about the parcel tax renewal that will be on the ballot in November and will be available to answer questions about our district and future plans.

Continuing Service Award: This award is given to recognize an individual or organization for ongoing or long-time service to children and youth, providing support year after year.
Honorary Service Award: This award is given to recognize an individual or organization for outstanding service to children and youth in our community, going above and beyond what is asked of them.
Outstanding Teacher Award: This award is given to recognize a teacher for outstanding service to children and youth through PTA, school, or community.
Outstanding Administrator Award: This award is given to recognize an administrator for outstanding service to children and youth through PTA, school, or the community.
By joining the HHS PTSA you automatically become part of the national PTA organization. PTA has existed for 125 years and is one of the largest child advocacy groups in the country. In times of shrinking budgets and lack of educational equity, organizations such as PTA are more critical than ever.
