We are pleased to announce that the Nick Ferentinos Scholarship Fund is now accepting applications from qualified 2019 graduating seniors. During his tenure, Nick Ferentinos, a Homestead High School teacher for 35 years, tirelessly dedicated his time and talents in support of high school students, particularly in the areas of mentorship, journalism, and American Studies. This scholarship was created to honor his exemplary service.
This year, two (2) scholarships of $5,000 are available to support students who are planning to attend a 4-year college in the 2019-2020 academic year. Applicants must be current Homestead High School seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA who demonstrate strong qualities of mentorship and exemplary performance in journalism or American Studies.
Applications should be submitted no later than February 25, 2019
After an initial review of applications by the Scholarship Board, submissions will be read and ranked on a
rubric, with the top applications offered up for discussion and final selection by the Board. If, in the
opinion of the Board, no applicant meets all the criteria, a recipient will not be selected.
You must be logged in to your FUHSD Google account to access the application. Thank you for your
commitment to Homestead and for working hard to fit Mr. Ferentinos’ vision of scholastic achievement
and mentorship.
If you have any questions, please email Ferentinos Scholarship Committee President Natalie Owsley.
