Rules of the
House...what you should and shouldn't do in The Homestead
Library
When you're using the Library, you are one
of many patrons - most of whom are your fellow students. So
it's important that you don't inconvenience, offend, or limit
the rights of other users to have access to library materials,
services, equipment and facilities.
In that spirit, we ask you to:
| Conduct your
activities quietly |
| |
Why?
To avoid disturbing other library users. And we
now have some new study areas -
silent study, quiet group study and the less quiet
periodical area where quiet conversation is
appropriate- so
you can choose your study environment. |
| |
| Eat or drink
before you come to the libraries to study |
| |
Why? Food
and drinks leave smells and a mess to be cleaned up -
which inconveniences others who wish to use study
space - and can cause damage to library materials and
computers. |
| |
| Use library
equipment for designated purposes only |
| |
Why?
Most Library workstations are for educational purposes
only.
Email workstations are available in Periodicals, and
all tables have electrical and network connections
which allow you do other activities that complement
your library research. |
So what if you don't follow the rules?
Failure to observe this code of conduct may result in
disciplinary action, including loss of borrowing privileges
and/or access to The Homestead Library. It's all in the
Libraries' Expected Behavior Policy,
which describes what is considered as theft or mutilation of
library materials, and notes who is responsible for dealing
with complaints about improper behavior, and sanctions..
Library
Workstation use
Take a look at the Workstation
Policy on the Library web site to find out what you can
and can't do on library computers. The policy sets out
appropriate use of library public workstations to ensure the
maximum library-related use of limited numbers of public
workstations, prevent damage to library computing resources,
ensure compliance by library patrons with the Fremont Union
High School District Acceptable Use of
Technology Student Contract.
But you need to do email.
So...what do you do?
There are email workstations in located in Periodicals. And
the Library now has some electronic desktops which allow you
to do email and word processing, as well as search library
holdings from any table using your own computer.
Responsible
Computer Use Policy
The use of Fremont Union High School
District computing and network services is governed by several
authorities. In particular, the Acceptable
Use of Technology
Student Contract, provides general guidelines on the
responsible use of computers.
