HHS Career Fair Thursday Jan. 18

Homestead's Bi-Annual Career Fair will take place during a special bell schedule on Thursday, January 18th.  Over 80 speakers representing over 70 careers will share information about various career paths.  Students will have an opportunity to attend three sessions during the fair.  

Please review the list of speakers and their descriptions by career sector before the 18th.

HHS Teacher Christy Heaton receives CCEE Honor

Congratulations to teacher Christy Heaton on being named a 2018 Teacher of the Year by The California Council on Economic Education. This award recognizes outstanding commitment to financial and economic education, providing Homestead students practical applications of personal finance, economic decision making, and entrepreneurial thinking. Mrs. Heaton is invited to receive recognition at the CFALA’s Annual Forecast Dinner in Los Angeles later this month.


HHS Marching Band and Color Guard at the Rose Parade

The Homestead High School Mighty Mustang Marching Band and Color Guard made a flawless appearance at the 129th Rose Parade in Pasadena on New Year's Day. Congratulations to all who participated!

Nick Ferentinos Scholarship Fund Accepting Applications

The Nick Ferentinos Scholarship Fund is now accepting applications from qualified Homestead High School seniors

This scholarship honors Nick Ferentinos, a well-respected, admired and nationally recognized teacher of English, journalism and American Studies at Homestead High School from 1965-2000. A $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually to the student who exemplifies the qualities of mentoring, scholastic achievement and a passion for the subject areas that mattered most to the late Mr. Ferentinos.

IT IS FLU SEASON! This flu season is anticipated to be a bad one.  Homestead staff has been reminded to follow the attached Illness Guidelines, and students exhibiting symptoms should be directed to the office so they can be checked and subsequently sent home with parent verification. Classrooms are being stocked with facial tissues to cover coughs and sneezes. Please see the Tips For Parents, in English and en español.


Calling all Producers - The City of Sunnyvale is looking for you to create a video to teach Sunnyvale about how you will have "A Greener Future!" Deadline to register is March 2. All current 8th and 10th grade students are required to complete the Residency Verification process for the 2018-19 school year.  Dates and times are as follows:


  • Monday, January 29th, from 7:30am - 3:00pm, in the Field House
  • Wednesday, January 31st, from 4:00pm - 7:00pm, in the Cafeteria


Attention 8th Grade Parents/Guardians:  In addition, our new Online Registration (OLR) must be completed.  Completing the OLR process prior to the dates above is required although there will be stations and assistance available at each Residency Verification session.  Click here to begin and complete the OLR process.  


Students who do not complete the Residency Verification process will not be given classes for the 2018-19 school year.

  • We recommend you make and provide copies of your documents.  Bringing your own copies will expedite the process.  Please take note:  you are still required to bring the originals with you.  Without the originals, we will not be able to complete your residency verification.  
  • Please bring the current version of your documents.  

GOODWILL DONATIONS:  On Saturday, January 20th a Goodwill truck will be onsite in the Homestead staff parking lot at Mary Avenue from 10am-4pm collecting donations- all proceeds benefit the Mighty Mustang Marching Band. 
There are items Goodwill will not accept. Please check their website for a list.

CUPERTINO SAFE ROUTES still wants to hear from you about how our Safe Routes 2 School program is doing! If you can spare 10 minutes, please take time to complete this brief survey so that we can ensure our program is evolving to fit the wants and needs of our community. We will use your answers to help shape our 2018/19 program agenda.

UPDATE AS OF 1/10/18:  District-wide we experienced technical difficulty with School Loop when uploading grades for 1st semester.  This has caused a significant delay in our ability to get grades posted by Thursday, January 11th.  Due to this delay, final semester grades will be posted to Infinite Campus no later than end of day Tuesday, January 16th.  We apologize for this delay!




First Semester grades will be available to view in the parent portal on Thursday, January 11th.  If you haven't already opened your Infinite Campus Portal account, please do so as soon as possible.

In our ongoing efforts to improve the facilities at Homestead High School supported by Measure K improvement funds, we will soon be embarking on a new phase of an infrastructure modernization project at the front of the school, including an Innovation Hub that will house computer labs, digital arts, a maker space and more. Construction will begin during summer 2017.
